My Hubby's Family Curtain-Making Business

Posted by Kayce at 6:59 PM 352 comments

Its been my hubby's family legacy since 1985 in making and sewing huge curtains for hotels, schools, politicians, businessmen, and for rich and famous people here in our city and to other places too.My father in-law does the main job on the planning and preparation, choosing the right tracking system or pole,  measuring and estimation of the  face fabric requirements, sewing the curtains and installing it.

My mother in-law does the customer sales, my brother in-law does the pleating and cutting of the textile, and my hubby is the one assisting my father-in-law in sewing the curtain. Both of them does the hard job actually.

I was just amazed how they do this kind of business. It is just unique for a family doing this kind of work and to think that men can do the sewing of curtain. I actually don't know how to sew using an electric sewing machine but my hubby and my father-in-law does it perfectly and it is a big money when its done. When it is a package deal where it includes the whole house including living room, dining room, bedrooms etc, that would usually costs around $2,000.

Last Saturday, I was with them when they installed the curtains of a newly built house of a Mayor in one of our municipality here. It was a very urgent job since the wife of the Mayor wants to finish the work that day, (Saturday) because there will a blessing of their house the following day and they only finish half of it! She wants to finish it even if we will install it at midnight or dawn. The work was done at midnight and we deliver it directly to their new house. I do the ironing of the huge curtain of their living and dining room and it was not an easy job at all.

However, we had still managed to finish the job. We started at midnight and we finished it at 6am. It was a very tiring day since that was a Sunday and its our Sunday Service of our church so we did not have time to rest. But we thanked God for giving us the strength and we are so thankful to Him for all the unmerited favor and blessings He had given to us.

My Voluntary Permanent Disconnection of my ISP, SmartBro Wireless Broadband

Posted by Kayce at 6:31 AM 35 comments

I had been using SmartBro wireless broadband internet for more than 2 years and within that years I had some pros and cons using that ISP. I had chosen this ISP since that time, there are still no DSL connection available here in our area.

The pros primarily is that, it is affordable and cheap because its monthly fee is only $21. We are actually using SmartBro before for our internet cafe and we have 10 pc units and it can still survive in providing its minimum 384 kbps being shared on all pc clients using a router.

However, it has more of the negative side (cons) when we speak of customer service. Everytime I call on their *1888 hotline where usually the customer service representative will entertain me, when I complain on the connectivity, the usual answer is that, I will just wait within 24 hours to restore back my internet connection.

There had been several days where we dont have internet connection so everytime that happens, its really painful to see our customers from our i-cafe will go out and look for another i-cafe because of the lost of our connection. There are times we usually have 2 to 3 days with no connectivity at all. Just imagine life without our internet. It will be No internet. No Income.

We had experienced a problem with our wireless antenna and we call for help on their customer service and they said they will just set a schedule for their technical field group to go to our place. And that usually takes 3 to 4 days before they arrive here. So imagine, we dont have internet for 3 to 4 days!

Intermittent Internet Connection is also one of SmartBro's problem that's why I decided to permanently disconnect my subsription to them. I merely knew it since it is wireless so everytime there's some heavy rains or strong winds, it will usually happen.

Now, my main problem is our wireless antenna from our rooftop was blocked by a huge mango tree with lots of leaves and branches and it hinders its signal from the local area tower.  And since its from our neighbor's mango tree and I actually wanted to let that huge mango tree cut down, the old couple who are the owner of that tree don't like to cut it down. So I just requested to cut its branches and leaves.

But the leaves easily grow so still I am facing the same problem again. That's why I had decided to permanently disconnect my subscription from SmartBro.

But before I decided to do that, I had already applied and had a new internet connection using PLDT MyDSL. Its now a DSL connection which is now better and faster since it is a wired internet connectivity.

Lechon Baboy, anybody who wants to eat?

Posted by Kayce at 12:41 AM 0 comments
I am sure every Filipino loves to eat Lechon Baboy cause this is one of the most popular food which  is being prepared throughout the year for any special occasion, during festivals, and specially this holiday season. We had our Church Thanksgiving & Christmas Party last Sunday so we have celebrated it together with this crispy and crunchy lechon!

Lechón is a pork dish in several regions of the world, most specifically Spain and its former colonial possessions throughout the world. The word lechón originated from the Spanish term leche (milk); thus lechón refers to a suckling pig that is roasted. Lechón is a popular cuisine in the Philippines, Cuba, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, other Spanish-speaking nations in Latin America, and Spain. The dish features a whole roasted pig cooked over charcoal.

Here in the Philippines, lechón is often served with vinegar, lechon sauce (made out of chicken livers or liver pate combined with vinegar, garlic, and pepper), plum sauce, or other sauces, or with other seasonings or accompaniments. The term lechón also came to mean any meat prepared by cooking on a pit, such as lechón baka (roast beef) and lechón manok (roast chicken). There are other Philippine versions of lechón. Lechón kawali involves chopping the meat into small pieces, boiling it, and then frying it. Lechón paksiw involves boiling lechón leftovers in a vinegar mix or lechon sauce, and then stir-frying it along with other ingredients.

Our Church Thanksgiving & Christmas Party

Posted by Kayce at 12:12 AM 0 comments

We had our Church Thanksgiving & Christmas Party yesterday and it was a great and fun day! We had our usual Sunday divine service where I am the one leading the Praise and Worship together with our Music Team.  ( That's me at the center )This time, since its our Thanksgiving, we have our guest preacher speaker who is the head of our affiliated church.

After our divine service, We had our thanksgiving lunch together celebrating and thanking God for all the blessings that He had given unto us. After being filled and blessed with the food, we continued our programme celebrating our Christmas Party together with my fellow church members.

We had a lot of games played like Bible Quizzes, Memory Verses, Bring Me Something, Statue Dance, Coca-cola drinking contest, Hep Hep Hurray and many more! We did enjoyed it and all members of the church had participated including the Men, Women, young people, and kids. Each family family had also presented a song number which was so exciting too.

And lastly, all of us are so excited to see and receive our gifts! We already did a raffle picking of the member last week where we just pick up the name of the receiver of the gift so we already know what gift we are going to give to that certain person.

It was a whole day Sunday affair that we couldn't  forget since we all enjoyed it!

Share This Day, A Soundtrack from Mickey Mouse Twice Upon a Christmas Movie

Posted by Kayce at 12:51 PM 0 comments
Lately, my 2 years old daughter is being addicted on Mickey Mouse collection of animated episodes even if its in black and white, technicolor or the latest 3D animated series. She just love watching Mickey Mouse day and night...over and over again!

Now she loves listening and dancing to this Share This Day song from Josh Kelley, which is a soundtrack from Mickey Mouse movie, Twice Upon a Christmas. This is actually a nice easy listening and heart warming song from Josh Kelley and I also love this movie from Mickey.

The segments in this video feature Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Pluto, Goofy, Max, Donald Duck, Daisy Duck, Huey, Dewey and Louie, and Scrooge McDuck in five different segments. Along with the Mickey's PhilharMagic theme park attraction, this production was one of the first to depict the Disney characters with 3D computer animation.

Weird Internet Connection Here

Posted by Kayce at 12:30 PM 1 comments

Its been 3 days already that I had experienced a weird connection of my internet using PLDT MyDSL. I am using our timer / server here in our internet cafe and I cannot connect to the internet every time I browse using Mozilla Firefox and even Internet Explorer.

But the players / gamers here in our i-cafe can play online games! I had called their customer service and they said its not the internet connection but rather the browser itself, or many there has a virus in our pc that's why its been like this.

I had upgraded my browsers and scanned all if there's some viruses in it but still it still says the page cannot be displayed. We are using this ping 74.125.19.99 -t command prompt to check if there is a connectivity of the internet here. As you can see this black photo showing a Reply from 74.125.19.99 -t bytes = 32 time 236ms TTL=53, that means there is a stable internet connectivity, but if it will show Destination Host Unreachable or Request Timed Out, that means it has no connectivity.
It shows it has a connectivity because it is pinging with bytes of data but still I cannot open the page. Sometimes it showed up but you still have to refresh it over and over again so you can access the page. When I checked the speedtest site, it shows its fast mb and download speed.
Good thing now its back in good and stable connection.

So Many Busy Shoppers Rushing Around Doing Some Shopping!

Posted by Kayce at 9:35 AM 1 comments

I went earlier today doing some shopping for some new clothes of mine, for my daughter and for my hubby plus some gift items to buy for our godchildren and dear loved ones that's close to our hearts and it was really a tiresome job since I find it hard to go to my favorite shopping stores because its very much crowded and the line at the cashier is so long! I just can't wait standing for a long hours there.

So I went to a shopping mall and still there is no chance for me to go inside
cause its still very crowded and the people are in shoulder to shoulder distance already. Even though my back and my feet is aching due to the long hours of standing and waiting, I still able to buy the things that I want to buy.

People are just very much busy buying some things to wear probably for their Christmas Party and for the exchanging of gifts just like what I also did. I think its been a habit of a Filipino trait already that when time comes specially this Christmas season, people are just rushing around doing some last minute shopping.

My Winning Mobile Phone Review Blog of Nokia 6500

Posted by Kayce at 6:48 AM 7 comments
Last week, my favorite social paying networking site MyPage5 had a blog contest where members are encouraged to join the contest by reviewing some products where they already had an experienced of that certain products like mobile phone, laptop and ipod.

Every time MyPage5 had its contest like this, I am interested in joining it and my entry was a mobile phone review for Nokia 6500. I am so happy and glad when I saw my name as the 1st prize winner of the said contest.

Here's what the admin had posted :

Mypage5 is pleased to present the results of the recent contest. We note that all the participants provided good information and iit was good to see many entries outlining personal experience with the item.

We are grateful to all the contestants and would like to congratulate the following members who won prizes:

First prize - Kayce ($5.00) ******* ( That's Me ....hehehe )********
Second prize - Anuradha ($
3.00)
Third prize - Arle ($2.00)

Fourth prize - Doris ($2.00)

So here's my winning entry for the blog review contest.

My mom sent this Nokia 6500 mobile phone as a birthday gift for me 2 years ago. I had been using this phone for more than 2 years now and I am absolutely amazed and love its features and specs.

The image quality is great. Neither the backlighting, nor the contrast is user-configurable.
The phone has a great signal reception and its call clarity is loud and clear on both ends and I have no problems communicating with this phone.

The phone ringing is easy to hear even in the noisiest envir
onment. The phonebook also offers space for up to 2000 contacts, as well as various configuration options.

Text Messaging is great with its keypad too. It is organized perfectly. Besides standard text messages, the phone is capable of receiving and sending multimedia messages, sound, flash messages, and emails. Sending an SMS and MMS is used using the same editor and so all you need to do in order to turn a regular SMS into an MMS is insert a picture or any other multimedia content. As soon as you activate the editor, it displays a field for entering the nu
mber of the recipient, which you can insert through standard typing, select it from the phonebook, from the caller groups, or from the list with the most recent addressees in the call register.

There is even the very handy optio
n to select a favorite message contact in case you have frequent correspondence with one and the same person. Everything in the editor is intuitive and is organized in a practical time-saving manner. It also offers a large number of configurable options. The sonic experience is enhanced by the equalizers and a stereo expansion function works so well.

What I also love about this phone is its clear and loudspeaker. The good thing is that it does not get muffled at all when the phone body is placed on
its back on an even surface such as a desk. The stereo FM radio with Visual radio is great with this phone. It uses the audio player interface and has the well known functions. The Visual radio application is helpful as it can download the radio stations in your area and save them to the handset with their names when an internet connection is available.

One of my favorite feature of this phone is its very good 3.2 megapixel autofocus CMOS camera with Carl Zeiss optics which has an integrated dual LED flash and the video recording capability in a VGA resolution. The camera of this phone produces images for up to 2048 x 1536 pixels resolution. It has an automatic flash mode and it can capture a very fine, crisp and clear image even when its very dark. Noise level is relatively high, especially with sufficient light. The autofocus camera does well at close-ups, which is quite pleasing for a camera phone like this one.

Its main connec
tivity is through USB using a micro sd memory card The memory card slot is also onboard to expand the built-in 20MB user available memory with up to 4GB card. Bluetooth is also available in this phone and surprisingly, it has a TV-Out support too.

This phone also has an integrated WAP browser, which also manages HTML pages. Direct address entering is available too.

For mobile phone gaming lovers like me also will probably appreciate the preinstalled content of this phone as it includes five games namely, the Backgammon II, Snake III , Highroller Casino, Golf Tour, and The Rally 3D simulation.

So if you are looking for a slim and sliding phone with a classy look and design but with tons of great features and specifications, I highly recommend this phone.

I had been a member of LinkReferral for almost a month now and I was so amazed how this site helps me in improving my blogging skills since I am just a newbie into blogging.

It helps me boosting up my traffic with lots reviews from other members who had visited my blog here, My Life & My Journey in Earning Money Online .

As you can see, I had posted some of the member's review of my blog on the right side of my blog layout.

I had also seen and followed a lot of good and inspiring blog specially the personal "online diary" blog, money earning blog, lots of money earning opportunities online and many more.

Here are the Site's Concept on how We Can Gain Free Traffic and Reviews Using their Site:

It works because its free, fast to register, easy to implement and no risk. People that are referred from your site will have nothing to lose and everything to gain, just like you.

Watching Some of my Favorite TV shows using PLDT Watchpad

Posted by Kayce at 6:28 PM 0 comments

Last month, we had transferred and subscribed to PDLT MyDSL Plan internet for up to 1.0 Mbps with a Residential Landline package worth P 1,395.

I came to know this PLDT Watchpad when I saw it was being advertised in GMA 7 particularly in their Noon time local show, EAT BULAGA. I was just amazed on the prizes that they had given away for those lucky subscriber who will won in the electronic raffle.

It was just so sad that that I had able to join on the last minute of the raffle draw which is today. Our first monthly bill just arrived yesterday. The contest needs the account number and our account number was reflected on our monthly bill.

It was not my luck then. Anyway, its okay for me since I had already installed this watchpad where I can watch some of my favorite local and foreign tv shows like MTV, Disney Channel, Playhouse Disney, CNBC, Solar Sports, Pinoy Box Office (PBO), Go Channel, Crime and Investigation Network, 2nd Avenue, GMA Network, History Channel, Bio Channel and ETC.

These channels are featured on top of PLDT MyDSL’s exclusive Watchpad channel called MyView where people can get the latest in celebrity news, fitness and fashion tips, and even the hottest indie music online. Another unique feature, myFlicks allows the subscriber to stream movies in this exclusive Watchpad video on demand channel. Watch it, when you want it.

Photoscape: My All Time Favorite Photo Editing Software!

Posted by Kayce at 9:46 AM 0 comments

I was looking at my younger sister Xyza's photos posted in Netlog before and I was so amazed how she edited all her pictures. I ask whats the name of the photo editing software and she said its Photoscape. She sent me the installer online cause it has only a small file size and its easy to install too.

Here are some of the great features of Photoscape that I love!

The Editor

The editor is where most of the functions are. Here you can apply a multitude of adjustments and effects to your photos. There is everything from one click auto-levels and contrast to advanced color curves, complete with the ability to load and save presets. There are many color and tone adjustments and a number of filter effects from the practical (noise reduction) to fun (cartoon). You can also spruce up your photos with a variety of fun and funky frames.

Within the editor, there is an object tab where you can add text, shapes, and speech balloons on top of the photo you are working with. There is a wide variety of clip art objects that can be stamped onto your working file, andyou can also add any other photo or an image from the clipboard. There is a rich text tool for adding formatted text as well as a symbol tool which lets you browse all the symbol fonts on your computer and drop them onto your image. Once these objects are in your document, they can be resized, moved, and rotated.

The editor also offers a flexible crop tool with a circular crop option. And there are a few region editing tools--red eye remover, mole remover, and mosaic. The red eye and mole tools could be improved, but for quick touch-ups they do an okay job.

You also get undo and undo all buttons for reverting any changes you don't like. And when you save your edits, you have the option to back up the original photo before overwriting, save under a new file name, or save your file in a designated output folder.

Batch Processing

In the Batch Editor you can apply almost all the functions available in the editor to multiple files at once. That includes frames, objects, text, color and tone adjustments, sharpening, resizing, and many of the effects. You can review the results before exporting one or all of the photos with your changes. You can also save your batch editor settings as a configuration file to re-use later.

Page Layouts

The page module is a multi-photo layout tool with over 100 choices of grid layouts to chose from. Simply dr ag and drop your photos into the boxes to create a quick collage. Individual photos can be moved and scaled to fit the grid boxes, and you can adjust the size of the layout, add margins, round the corners, and apply frames or filter effects to all photos in the layout. Once your layout is complete, it can be saved as a new file or p assed to the editor.

As you can see from my edited photos using this software, I am very impressed overall on what has been packed into this photo editor without sacrificing ease of use.
